Extension Springs (Range of wire 0.3mm to 16mm)

Extension Springs are manufactured to suit another wide range of applications. They can be produced in large volumes with conventional equipment and offer cheap solutions to a wide range of industrial applications. The loops can be specified with an almost infinite number of shapes and are usually specific to suit the location points.

An extension spring normally has a near to linear rate once the initial tension is exceeded. The advantage of an extension spring is that a fixed load (Initial Tension) may be applied, prior to any deflection of the system.

Typical applications are counterbalancing, lever systems or any application where an initial force is needed prior to actuation. There is a limit to the range of operation in an extension spring, and stress levels if exceeded will result in loss of initial tension.
